Our Relief Programs
Our Relief Programs cover a great deal of territory, both figuratively and literally. "Relief" includes gathering and distributing food and clothing, school supplies, and other items of need by a particular Native family or tribe. It also includes a variety of items that may not be readily available to our low-income people with limited resources.
When there is a natural disaster, such as hurricanes, tornadoes or floods, we try to provide help in the form of food and clothing. We also run a resource program trying to provide educational materials such as text books, writing supplies, and instructional materials to help people get a GED. Whatever the need, we try to find the necessary resources and get them to the recipients at no cost. People helping people is our role and our goal. Tribal governments can help with our relief projects by providing us with an designated person to contact to verify need and to help arrange for distribution or goods or materials. If you represent a tribal government, please visit the "Contact Us" link on our website to register your tribe or nation.
How You Can Help
Individuals and businesses can help by registering with IAM. If a request comes in that matches with a need you can supply, we'll contact you. We have two categories of donors --- public and private. Private donors are just that --- we have your name and contact information on file at our home office, but that information is not released to the public. It is, however, open to review as required by federal law. Public donors of services or materials have their name and/or company name listed on our website. If you can help in any of the following areas, please contact IAM:
- Food (non-refrigerated)
- Shelter (temporary housing, tents, tipis, etc.)
- Clothing including footwear
- Household goods (blankets, paper products, appliances, etc.)
- Heating/cooling (wood stoves, air conditioners, fans, etc.)
- Educational materials
- Unexpired over-the-counter medications and first aid supplies
- Medical and dental professional services
- Engineers, builders, architects
Our ministry does not accept monetary donations. We believe that when money is involved, organizations tend to get wrapped up in soliciting donations, covering administrative costs, etc. and lose the focus of their original mission. We act as a liason between those in need and those who have the resource needed. All work done through IAM is 100% volunteer work.
